ASTANA. August 30. KAZINFORM /Askar Bimendin/ "20 years have passed since the signing of the Decree of the President of Kazakhstan on closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear testing range. It tore to pieces our long-suffering land for decades," the Head of State said delivering an opening address at today's military parade held at the Kazakh Yeli Monument timed to the 16th anniversary of Constitution and 20th anniversary of independence of Kazakhstan.
"Closing the nuclear testing site we have made an invaluable contribution to the harmonious development of the mankind," Nursultan Nazarbayev added.
