Kazakhstan's Human Rights Commissioner joins Asia Pacific Forum

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan's Human Rights Commissioner joined the Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APFNHRI) as an associate member, Kazinform has learned from the Human Rights Commissioner's office.

Kazakhstan was accepted as the associate member of the APFNHRI on the first day of its 19th annual forum held in New Delhi. Ombudsman Askar Shakirov represented Kazakhstan at the meeting. Membership in the APF proves that Kazakhstan's achievements in the sphere of human rights have earned international recognition. It will allow Kazakhstan to exchange experience and best practices in this field with foreign colleagues. ATF as the largest regional human rights organization works to promote the ideas of human rights throughout the region and provides the development of national human rights institutions in the participating countries via coordination of international cooperation, training, and dissemination of experience. In New Delhi, Shakirov held talks with ATF chairman, secretariat and members of the organization as well as representatives of the International Steering Committee and other regional structures of national human rights institutions.
