Kazakhstan's foreign trade turnover in Jan-June 2009 made USD 30.4 bln

ASTANA.  July 31. KAZINFORM Foreign trade turnover of Kazakhstan in January-June 2009 made USD 30.4 bln. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade last year this index comprised USD 52.1 bln.

Russia is the main trade partner of the country in the reporting period (USD 5.5 bln or 18.1%), then comes China (USD 4.3 bln or 14.1%).

The volume of export of Kazakhstan products in this period made USD 17.2 bln, comparing with the same period in 2008 (USD 35.1 bln) it decreased twofold.

The major part (82%) of export of Kazakhstan goods falls on non-CIS countries (USD 14.1 bln) while the share of the CIS countries over the abovementioned period makes only USD 3.1 bln (18%).

Among the main consumers of the domestic products are Italy (15.7%), China (13.4%), Switzerland (11.6%), Russia (8.7%), France (8.7%), the Netherlands (4.7%), Great Britain (3.5%), Ukraine (3.5%) and Iran (3.5%).

Kazakhstan exported primarily minerals (71.4%), metals and metal products (13.7%), chemical products, rubber and plastic (4.7%), products of animal and plant origin, foodstuffs (4.6%), machines, equipment, means of transport and devices (1.2%).

The volume of import in Jan-June 2009 made USD 13.2 bln against USD 17.1 bln over the same period in 2008.

The import from non-CIS countries made USD 7.5 bln (56.8%), while from the CIS countries this index comprised USD 5.7 bln (43.2%).

The main suppliers of the import products are Russia (30.3%), China (15.9%), Ukraine (9.1%), Germany (7.6%), the USA (6.1%), Italy (3.8%), Great Britain (2.3%) and Japan (2.3%).

The main imported products are machines, equipment, means of transport, devices (35.1%), metals and metal products (26.8%), chemical products, rubber and plastic (12.1%), minerals (9.6%), products of animal and plant origin, foodstuffs (8.4%) and wood (3%).
