Kazakhstan's epee fencer two times champion of Asia
Dmitry Aleksanin, Ruslan Kurbanov and Dmitry Gryaznov also fought for the team. In the quarter-finals the Iranian team with 45:39 score was defeated and South Korean athletes resistance was crushed in semi-final with a score 45:43. Home walls did not save the Chinese team from defeat in the final match scored 40:45. Thus, Kazakhstan became the Champion of Asia.
It is the second highest award of the championship for E.Alimzhanov, as few days before Elmir for the first time got the title of the European epee champion in the individual competition.
Women’s epee fencer team was close to a medal success, but in the match for the third place the national team of Kazakhstan including the athletes Jamila Yunusbaeva, Uliana Balaganskaya, Asel Alibekova and Janina Zakharova lost the fight to a women’s team from Hong Kong.
Two bronze medals gained by women and men’s saber teams. The team of men (Ilya Mokretsov, Yevgeny Frolov, Zhanserik Turlybekov, Yeraly Tilenshiev) beat the Japanese team in the battle for the bronze medal with a minimum score of 45:44. Girls (Tamara Pochekutova, Julia Zhivitsa, Zhansaya Serikbaeva, Aybike Khabibulina) have regained the medals from their Hong Kong competitors.
As for foil fencing teams of Kazakhstan, men’s team became seventh and the women's team did not participate in the competition.
The team event was won by Koreans athletes, the second place went to the Chinese and Kazakh team rounded out the top three.
