Kazakhstan's chairmanship in OSCE to be effective - German Vice FM
Mr. Erler told about Germany's position in relation to the issues concerning Kazakhstan. In particular, he noted that Germany supported Kazakhstan's intention to chair the OSCE in 2010. He expressed hope that Kazakhstan would completely conduct democratic reforms that the country declared during the talks on chairmanship.
According to the German Minister, Kazakhstan's presidency over the OSCE will be effective since to date the interests of European countries have been uppermost in the organization.
As for the situation in Central Asia, G. Erler noted the significance of peaceful settlement in Afghanistan. He emphasized that Germany was ready to bear financial expenses and even sustain military losses in Afghanistan in order to help the country establish a democratic government and ensure stability in the whole Central Asian region.
