Kazakhstan's chairmanship in OSCE challenges stereotypes about CIS - Senator

ALMATY. May 28. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ionova/ "Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE has challenged the Europe's stereotypes about the CIS states. Our chairmanship has contributed a lot in a wide range of the OSCE activities", Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Kazakh Parliament's Senate Kuanysh Sultanov has said at the Almaty conference devoted to the preliminary results of the Kazakhstan's presidency in the OSCE.

According to him, the chair country conducts daily and systematic work on all priorities and three dimensions of the OSCE. Kazakhstan has managed to give a new pace to the organization's level life. "The April events in Kyrgyzstan were a major challenge for our presidency in the OSCE. The situation was burdened by the death of more than a hundred people. Kazakhstan took the most optimal measures to ensure stability and stop inhuman acts", K. Sultanov noted.

It was emphasized that Kazakhstan paid special attention to the issues of Afghanistan. The state continues activities of cross-border cooperation development, strengthening the capacity of the national border guard and police forces.

"Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE that was determined by the Head of the State as a strategic national project is of paramount importance for the country and its future. Besides, our presidency is valuable for the organization itself, since it will help enrich its experience", the Chairman stressed.
