Kazakhstan's centuries-old traditions don't go against Islam: Nazarbayev

ASTANA. July 6. KAZINFORM "Our centuries-old traditions do not go against Islam," Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the unveiling ceremony of a new mosque on Friday (July 6) in Astana.
"We should not forget we have customs and traditions that have been transmitted from generation to generation and that we have our own way. Our centuries-old traditions do not go against Islam. Astana became a host city of four Congresses of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
President Nazarbayev stressed Kazakhs had always been tolerant and did not classify people by religions.
The Head of State also noted the new Khazret Sultan mosque is the biggest in Kazakhstan and was likely to range among the biggest mosques in the region in future.
