Kazakhstan, Russia to establish single reserve in 2011 - Ecology Ministry

ASTANA. May 6. KAZINFORM /Gulnara Zhandagulova/ Kazakhstan and Russia will establish a single reserve in Altai Mountain in 2011. Vice Minister of Environmental Protection Eldana Sadvokassova said it at a session of the Kazakhstan National Commission for UNESCO and ISESCO today.

"In 2008-2009 we performed huge work together with the Russian Federation. We have already determined the geographical and bio-ethnic parameters of this reserve. An appropriate agreement has been drafted", the Vice Minister said.

It is known that Altai Mountain stretches on the territory of three countries - Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia. At present Mongolia considers a proposition regarding joining the reserve, the Vice Minister added.

According to her, Russia and Kazakhstan are ready to sign a treaty in 2011.
