Kazakhstan, Russia succeeded in reconciling controversy concerning CU - PM Massimov

SAINT PETERSBURG. May 28. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ The Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan and Russia have succeeded in coordinating nearly all positions and controversy concerning the Customs Union. Kazakh Premier Karim Massimov has made it public at the sitting of the Supreme Body of the Customs Union today.

He reminded that at the previous meeting Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus failed to coordinate all positions within the framework of the formation of the Customs Union. In this context the Commission of the Customs Union and an expert group were instructed to continue the coordination work.

"Over the past week almost all issues were resolved", K. Massimov said. The most sensitive issue for Kazakhstan was the import of foreign cars. "We have considered a transition period during which the issue will be solved", K. Massimov stressed.

The transition period for the auto import will last till the formation of a Single Economic Space.

The Head of the Government expressed hope that "Belarus will join the agreements under those conditions that were reached today. "
