Kazakhstan, Russia signed agr't on financing construction of third power unit at Ekibastuz GRES-2

ALMATY. July 7. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sihimbayev/ The Agreement on financing the construction of the third power unit at Ekibastuz State District Power Station - 2 was signed on July 5 in Astana in the presence of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

This was the start of the realization of a large-scale investment project of JSC Ekibastuz State District Power Station - 2. The shareholders of the project are JSC Samruk-Energo and JSC INTER RAO UES. The project will be financed by the Eurasian Development Bank and the State corporation 'Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Activities (Vnesheconombank)'.

The capacity of the third power unit is to make 500 MW. The Eurasian Development Bank and Vnesheconombank provide a multicurrency 15 year loan in the amount of USD 770 mln. The total cost of the project is USD 800 mln.

The Eurasian Development Bank has actively cooperated with JSC Ekibastuz State District Power Station - 2, JSC Samruk-Energo and JSC INTER RAO UES since 2007. In particular, the Bank opened a 10 year credit line for JSC Ekibastuz State District Power Station - 2 in the amount of USD 93.5 mln to improve the technical condition of the station.
