Kazakhstan rises in list of foreign tourism destinations for Chinese tourists
Kazakhstan rose from 40th to 29th spot in the list of popular foreign tourism destinations for Chinese tourists, Nurtas Karipbayev, Chairman of the Tourism Industry Committee of the Kazakh Tourism and Sport Ministry, said, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
According to Karipbayev, the year 2024 was declared the Year of Tourism of Kazakhstan in China in a bid to make Kazakhstan a popular tourism destination for Chinese tourists as well as to promote cultural and business exchanges, enhance mutual understanding and friendship among the nations.
Kazakhstan also sought to take the number of arrivals from China to half a million and bring in travel exports worth 300 million US dollars.
Under the Year of Tourism of Kazakhstan in China, 47 different cultural and business events took place.
All these events were held to boost business ties with China’s leading tourism companies, which led to Kazakhstan rising from 40th to 29th spot in the list of the most popular foreign tourism destinations for Chinese tourists, said Karipbayev.
As he said, the number of arrivals from China to Kazakhstan stood at 655,000 in 2024, a whopping 78% rise compared with 2023, indicating growing interest among Chinese to our cultural and natural heritage.
Besides, up to 200 agreements were reached between the regions, tour companies and agencies, media platforms of the two countries.
