Kazakhstan retains position of the largest uranium producer in the world, Kazatomprom

Thus, at the end of 2014 the volume of uranium production in Kazakhstan amounted to 22.829 thousand tons, which corresponds to the planned targets. In 2014 the national atomic company drilled more than 986 exploration wells totaling 452,946 linear meters. JSC "Center of uranium enrichment" has shipped 4 986.5 thousand SWU (separative work units) of finished products. "MAEK-Kazatomprom" LLP generated 5,080,000 thousand KWh of electricity, 3.296 million Gcal of thermal energy, produced 1,235,000 thousand cubic meters of water, including 11 400 thousand cubic meters of drinking water for the residents of Mangystau region and Aktau city. Volume of production of tantalum products amounted to 154.458 tons, niobium -72.228 tons, beryllium - 1776.180 tons. "SARECO" LLP JV in 2014 produced 240.4 tons of bulk concentrate of rare-earth metals (REM). Finished products were shipped to customers in the Russian Federation. In 2014 "Astana Solar" LLP produced 51,069 solar panels, which corresponds to 12.706 MW of power, 13,338 MW (53,979 panels) of which were contracted by Kazakh companies (subject to future production). Kazatomprom NC JSC is the national operator of Kazakhstan for export of uranium and its compounds, rare metals, nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, special equipment, technologies and dual-use materials.
