Kazakhstan registers decrease in wildfires

ASTANA. June 18. KAZINFORM The number of naturally occurring forest fires in Kazakhstan has declined fourfold in 2013, according to the statement of the Kazakh Ministry for Emergency Situations.
"Kazakhstan has also seen a threefold decrease in hectares burned by wildfires this year," the statement says.
However, according to the statistics, 75 wildfire hotspots covering a territory of 2.200 hectares have been registered in the republic since the start of the fire season this year. Wildfire damage has already amounted to KZT 8.6 million over the period.
