Kazakhstan reduces greenhouse gases in atmosphere: U.Shukeyev

ANA. July 1. KAZINFORM /Ruslan Suleimenov/ Presentation of the second national message on the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) has been held today in Astana.
As First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Umirzak Shukeyev noted, Kazakhstan joined the UNFCCC in 1999, signing the Kyoto Protocol. The Kazakh President signed the Law on ratification of the Kyoto Protocol in March, 2009. All mechanisms of the Protocol enter into effect in September, 2009. "All these measures are aimed at the reduction of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere", U.Shukeyev noted.
"The Head of the State charged to accelerate the decision taking process on the Kyoto Protocol. Upon the results of the second national message the Government will correct work on formation of the climate change adaptation strategy, introduction of clean and energy-saving technologies in the industry", U.Shukeyev said.
