Kazakhstan receives award for contribution to EITI progress

ASTANA. February 27. KAZINFORM The National Council on implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Kazakhstan and Tax Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Finance inform about the award received by Kazakhstan, Kazinform refers to the press-office of the Kazakh Ministry of Economy and Tax Committee.
On the IV EITI Global Conference taken place on February, 17-19 in Doha (Quatar), EITI Chairman Peter Eigen handed out the award for the activity in EITI implementation. Kazakh Vice-Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Asset Magauov received the award on behalf of Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan and Liberia were also awarded where Azerbaijan is the first country completed validation and becoming the first EITI Compliant country, and Liberia was awarded for the significant progress in the EITI implementation.
The National Council of Interested Sides outlines Kazakhstan as the first of three countries to receive award for contriibution into the EITI progress. This gives an impuls to fulfil the following task ? to take validation in 2009. The National Council of Interested Sides intends to take efforts for the achievement of this goal.
