Kazakhstan ranks 36th place in IMD annual report on world competitiveness

ASTANA. May 20. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ Kazakhstan ranked 36th place in annual report on world competitiveness of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD). Executive secretary of Kazakh Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning Dina Shazhenova has made it public at a press conference; Kazinform reports.

?This year 57 countries including the USA, South Korea, Singapore, Germany, Finland, Canada, France and other developed states took part in the IMD rating. Russia and Ukraine were among the CIS states too. Last year Kazakhstan ranked 39 place among 56 countries?, D.Shazhenova said. "The IMD experts estimated a competitiveness level on 329 criteria measuring such facets like economy state, effectiveness of a government, business and infrastructure. Research consists of 2/3 hard statistical data (international/national sources) and 1/3 survey data (Executive Opinion Survey)?, she noted. The USA, Hong Kong, Singapore are at the top of IMD report; Argentina, Ukraine and Venezuela take the last places. Russia ranked 49th place.
