ASTANA. March 9. KAZINFORM /Murat Zhakeyev/ Kazakhstan plans to build about 5 wind power plants by 2015. National Manager of UNDP/GEF project "Kazakhstan - wind energy market development initiative" Ainur Sospanova has informed of it today at a seminar on assessment of electric energy infrastructure of Kazakhstan. The seminar was held in Astana.
"Experts forecast that by 2015 Kazakhstan will generate 250 mW per annum, i.e. 5 wind power parks by that time. By 2030 this figure will reach 2000 mW per year. To my mind, those ambitious plans of Kazakhstan on generation of 1% of energy from renewable sources are quite possible and realistic. Further development of regulatory-legal framework can underlie implementation of such projects," A. Sospanova considers.
