Kazakhstan participates in extraordinary session of OIC Ministerial Meeting
A delegation of Kazakhstan led by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu participated in the extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the situation in Palestine and Syria, Kazinform News Agency learned from the MFA press service.
The participants discussed the current geopolitical situation, challenges and threats facing the Islamic world, as well as noted the need for early recovery of the Gaza Strip and stabilization of the situation in Syria.
In his speech, Murat Nurtleu noted that Kazakhstan has closely followed the Syrian crisis from its very beginning, providing a platform for negotiations within the framework of the Astana Process.
“We call on OIC member countries to take active steps to stabilize the situation in Syria, taking into account the interests of the Syrian people,” said Nurtleu.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, it was emphasized that the most pressing issue is to ensure a sustainable ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. Kazakhstan hopes that ongoing negotiations on the second phase will yield a sustainable path towards peace, security, as well as establishment of a Palestinian Statehood in accordance with respective resolutions of the UN General Assembly and Security Council.
The event demonstrated the solidarity of Muslim countries with the Palestinian and Syrian peoples, as well as their desire for active actions for the early settlement of the situation in the region.
As a result of the OIC Ministerial Council, the relevant resolutions were adopted and Syria’s membership in the Organization was reinstatement.
At a joint summit convened by the League of Arab States (LAS) and the OIC in November 2024, Deputy Prime Minister- Foreign Minister, Murat Nurtleu, voiced Kazakhstan’s commitment to diplomatic efforts in resolving the escalating conflict in Gaza and the instability in Lebanon. His address underscored Kazakhstan’s dedication to peace, humanitarian aid, and the pursuit of a two-state solution as the only viable path toward a lasting resolution for the Palestinian people
