Kazakhstan participated in FITUR-2011 International Tourism and Trade Fair in Madrid

ASTANA. January 25. KAZINFORM During the period from January 19 to January 23, 2011, Madrid held the 31st International Tourism Trade Fair FITUR-2011.

This year the event was attended by more than 10 thousand companies from 166 countries and regions of the world. A Kazakh delegation consisting of the representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, regional tourism departments and tour operators took part in it for the fifth time.

The event was inaugurated by Queen Sofía who welcomed the participants. In her speech she noted importance of tourism in solution of urgent issues of global economy.

Within the fair, the pavilion of Kazakhstan held a presentation "Tourist Potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan" opened by Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Spain, Permanent Representative of our country to the World Tourist Organization Yergali Bulegenov. According to him, Kazakhstan has huge potential in tourism and great prospects in this direction. Special attention was given to the role of Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev played in promotion of this sector.

The guests of the presentation could also enjoy a documentary about development of tourism in Kazakhstan and a photo exposition.
