Kazakhstan, Oman vow to revive cooperation
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi has arrived in Kazakhstan for an official visit, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu welcomed the high guest in Astana.
The Kazakh, Omani foreign ministers are set to hold talks behind closed doors and in extended formats.
“Being a leading economic partner of Oman in Central Asia, Kazakhstan strives to fully utilize the potential of our trade cooperation. Oman enjoys a well-deserved investment presence in our economy, with total capital inflows exceeding $253 million today. In this spirit, we fully support Oman’s initiative to create the Fund of Direct Investments for Kazakhstan and neighboring countries. I am confident that today’s meeting will bring more mutually beneficial results for out agenda,” Murat Nurtleu said opening the meeting.
In his words, the strengthening of economic ties will create opportunities for the expansion of cultural and interpersonal exchanges. Thus, in 2024, the number of Kazakhstani tourists visiting Oman soared by 37% and reached 21,000.
It should be noted that the last time, the Omani Foreign Minister paid an official visit to Kazakhstan was in 2004.
Today’s meeting, which is taking place almost 20 years later, symbolizes the revival of the bilateral relations.
Previously, it was reported that Murat Nurtleu met Sylvain Guiaugué, the Ambassador of the French Republic to Kazakhstan. The parties assessed the progress made over the past year and highlighted the importance of implementing the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to France in November 2024, as well as the outcomes of the two leaders’ participation in the One Water Summit in December 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
