Kazakhstan needs to develop new ways of interaction and cooperation with Islamic financial institutions within its forthcoming OIC chairmanship - roundtable in Almaty
In 2011 our country will chair the 38th session of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). Thus, the meeting focused on the expert analysis of foreign policy initiatives which Kazakhstan will lift as the head of the OIC.
"The secular character does not mean non-participation of the state in religious life of the society, especially in countries with Muslim majorities. Islam can and should play a positive role in the economic and social life, preservation of traditions, comprehensive development of society", President of the Center, Doctor of Political Sciences Esenzhol Aliyarov said.
According to the participants, implementation of Islamic principles in economy has become very relevant since the beginning of the global financial crisis. New principles, especially in the banking sector are needed: the world today can not survive without a fair financial system. The value of Islamic economics lies in its social orientation, where the interests of society are of top priority.
Many countries in recent years have experienced political and economic changes that are not always positive. Sometimes they lead to the growth of radicalism, extremism, intolerance. There were a lot of destructive sects pursuing solely political goals. All this undermines the unity of the Ummah, contradicts the ideas and principles of the Muslim Brotherhood to achieve the common good. "In these circumstances, prior to its chairmanship in the OIC, Kazakhstan needs to develop new ways of interaction and cooperation with financial institutions of the Islamic world, preservation and development of its best traditions", the participants noted.
