Kazakhstan National Museum to get 3D-copies of artifacts in its collection

KAZINFORM - 3D-copies of artifacts relating to the history of Kazakhstan, but kept in museums in other countries, may appear in the National Museum of Kazakhstan, Director of the National Museum Darkhan Mynbay told a briefing in the Central Communications Service, Kazinform has learnt from primeminister.kz.

"Our country has a lot of rarities, which were taken abroad and are currently in other countries and museums. There is an option when such matters are addressed through the intergovernmental agreements. But there is another option - to make 3D or 4D copies. So we're going to show some artifacts in our exhibitions," he said.

According to him, the practice of replenishing museum collection in this way is used around the world. Kazakh experts only now begin negotiations.

Moreover, as the director of the museum said, the collection of the National Museum will be filled up by conventional methods - by purchasing museum values after the evaluation by specialized commissions, as well as through the donation procedure.

The opening ceremony of the National Museum was held on July 2 with the participation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The museum building consists of 7 units (2 to 8 floors) with a total area of 74 thousand square meters, which contains archaeological, ethnographic, historical and cultural monuments of Kazakhstan from ancient times to the present day.

The building of the museum has the exhibition hall of ancient and medieval history, hall of gold, ethnography hall, hall of independent Kazakhstan, Astana city hall, halls of modern art. There are also rooms for temporary exhibitions, restoration workshops, laboratories, storage facilities, a library with a reading room, conference rooms.
