Kazakhstan may export 10 million tons of grain this year

ASTANA. October 31. KAZINFORM - This year Kazakhstan's grain exports may reach 10 million tons, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Muslim Umiryayev said during a press conference in the Central Communications Service, according to the web-site of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

"We can talk about the harvest of 18.5-19 million tons of grain in net weight, which allows us to talk about the export potential of 9-10 million tons with account of domestic consumption and the carryover stock," he said.

Last year, grain exports reached 7.1 million tons. According to him, since July 1, Kazakhstan has exported about 2.5 million tons of grain.

To date, crops have been harvested from the area of more than 97%. 20.5 million tons of grain in bunker weight has been harvested.

During the enlarged session of the Government on October 11, the President gave instructions on the development of the agricultural sector, processing and export of agricultural products, and financing of government agricultural programs.
