Kazakhstan - leader in promotion religious tolerance

Issues of freedom of religion and believes - the main human right protecting transcendent dimension of a personality - were discussed at a regular session. A detailed analysis of the activity of the OSCE member states regarding provision of freedom of religion and belief was presented within the report on the activity of the OSCE ODIHR and other institutions and structures of the Organization on realization of prior tasks set by, in particular, Vienna Concluding Document of 1989. Particular recommendations to member states on improvement of the legislation in the field of prevention of clashes between fundamental rights to freedom of religion and self-expression and non-discrimination principles were given.

Participants complimented the uniqueness of the Kazakh model of relations between the state and religious organizations based on the principles of religious tolerance, mutual respect and nonintervention into internal affairs of each other.

Kazakhstan being the OSCE chairman is a leader of promotion of religious tolerance. The experience of our country in conducting interconfessional dialogue was acknowledged and supported by the world religious leaders.
