Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan bilateral trade surges to $1.2bln in 9M2024
This is what Kazakh Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliyev said on the margins of the 12th session of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Council in Bishkek, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Shakkaliyev said that the 12th session of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Council explored the issues of deepening trade-economic cooperation and raising mutual trade to $3 billion, in accordance with the goal set by the two countries’ presidents.

“The participants also discussed the issues of modernization and expansion of the border checkpoints, water and energy interaction, trade-economic collaboration, construction of logistics and distribution centers,” Shakkaliyev noted.
He emphasized that the agreements achieved will let boost the bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the near future.
According to him, in nine months of 2024, commodity turnover between the countries reached $1.2 billion which is 1.6% higher compared to the same period in 2023.
The 12th session of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Council kicked off in Bishkek on December 4, with the participation of the two countries’ prime ministers – Olzhas Bektenov and Akylbek Zhaparov.
A number of documents was signed following the event, including the Final Protocol of the 12th session of the Intergovernmental Council, the Road Map on increasing mutual supplies of agricultural products, as well as the Memorandum of Cooperation in Tourism Development.
