Kazakhstan keen to share experience in inter-faith dialogue with UN Alliance of Civilizations
According to the press service of the upper chamber of the Kazakh Parliament, H.E. Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser came to Astana in order to attend the international forum on the occasion of the launch of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures 2013-2022, initiated by Kazakhstan. The 67th session of the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution on "Promotion of Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue, Understanding and Cooperation for Peace".
During the meeting it was noted that Kazakhstan continues to act as the main co-author of the culture of peace resolutions. "I believe that election of Kazakhstan as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council goes to prove that the international community has recognized its success in provision of human rights and freedoms," stressed Kazakh MP.
Discussing the prospects for cooperation between the Congress and the Alliance, the interlocutors pointed out the necessity to step up joint work aimed at promoting the role of inter-faith and intercultural tolerance and consent for the achievement of universal peace and security.
"In the course of the official visit to Austria in October 2012, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev suggested joining efforts of the two forums. We are keen to share our extensive experience in the strengthening of inter-faith and interreligious dialogue and accord with the Alliance of Civilizations," added Mr. Mami.
