Kazakhstan joins new Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe Eurasian transcontinental trunk railway

IJING. September 30. KAZINFORM /Ruslan Suleimenov/ Last Wednesday reps of the railway administrations of Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Belarus, Poland and Germany signed a memo of cooperation in Chongqing city, Southwest China.

The memo is purposed to launch regular railway service en route Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe and intensify cooperation for competitive recovery of the new Eurasian continental bridge. The train leaves Chongqing, runs through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, and Belarus to reach Duisburg of Germany. It is the most commercially viable route as compared to the historically known Chinese Eastern Railway. With a total length of 11179 km, the whole journey spans 6 countries in 16 days.
