Kazakhstan joins Firebird’s Global AI Infrastructure Network
Kazakhstan has become the second market for U.S.-based company Firebird, which is partnering with Kazakhtelecom to develop large-scale AI infrastructure in Ekibastuz, Qazinform News Agency cites the AI and Digital Development Ministry.
The Data Center Valley, a 125 MW facility, is under construction in Ekibastuz.
It was announced at the opening of Firebird’s AI campus in Razdan, Armenia, which was attended by Kazakhstan’s Deputy PM Zhaslan Madiyev, Armenia’s PM Nikol Pashinyan, representatives from NVIDIA, the U.S. government, and global tech investors.
The project received Kazakhstan’s official clearance and U.S. BIS export licenses for advanced technologies.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized Kazakhstan’s role: “Together with Firebird, we are building AI infrastructure in Armenia and Kazakhstan to provide researchers, startups, and industry with computational foundations for AI development, attracting global innovators and integrating into the global AI economy.”
Kazakhstan is also advancing the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic line to create a high-speed data route to Europe, strengthening the foundation for large-scale data centers and AI projects.
Deputy PM Madiyev highlighted that Kazakhstan is building its own AI ecosystem, leveraging energy resources, land, and digital infrastructure to host major computing power.
Work is underway to ensure safe data hosting, improve regulatory frameworks, and attract international tech companies.
Firebird plans to expand globally, aiming for 2 GW of AI infrastructure capacity by 2028 across Armenia, Kazakhstan, and other countries.
NVIDIA has also announced plans to invest in Firebird.
