Kazakhstan, Israel to set up joint agro enterprise

ASTANA. July 1. KAZINFORM - Today Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Akhylbek Kurishbayev met with Israeli Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor Binyamin Ben-Eliezer today In Astana, the Ministry press service reported. At the meeting the two ministers discussed the outlooks for bilateral cooperation in agriculture, namely in crop growing, cattle breeding, rational consumption of water resources and agrarian science.

As per the verbal arrangement achieved between the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Israel, the two ministers also discussed the issue of setting up a joint enterprise between Kazakhstan's KazAgroInnovation JSC and Israel's Center of Agrarian Research under the Agriculture Ministry.

The parties pointed out that this enterprise will perform the funding of joint applied scientific researches and innovation projects in the agro-industrial complex. There are several basic directions outlined: creation of the scientific and technical infrastructure, cultivation of new sorts of agricultural crops and cattle breeds, water resources management, introduction of effective water saving systems of irrigation, advanced technologies in fish farms.

The two ministers also spoke for signing a memorandum of mutual understanding and cooperation between KazAgroInnovation and the Center of Agrarian Research in July 2009.
