Kazakhstan is ready for possible Ebola case - healthcare official

Deputy head of sanitary-epidemiological expertise and monitoring center Alim Aikimbayev made such a statement at a press conference in Almaty today. "We've assumed timely measures. All airports are properly equipped as we evaluate all passengers with fever for a potential case of Ebola. Any Ebola-infected person will be treated according to the standard operation procedures for sanitation at special laboratories," he said. In his words, Kazakhstan has no direct air communication with West African countries, but Ebola epidemic may spread to Europe and then reach Kazakhstan. According to Aikimbayev, the World Health Organization has confirmed that the death toll from Ebola virus exceeded 5,000.
