The minister stressed that the problem of reducing emissions is considered as one of the priority tasks of the state. According to him, the country is an active participant of international negotiating processes. He outlined that the country fulfills its obligations under the conventions and agreements on climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Mr. Shkolnik reported that in December 2011 Kazakhstan adopted the law" On amendments and additions to some legislative acts on environmental issues." In subsequent years, changes were made to the Environmental Code. More 30 laws regulating this sphere have been approved. Vladimir Shkolnik said that in 2013 Kazakhstan launched the carbon market, in 2014 the country realized the first national plan for allocation of quotas for greenhouse gases.
