Kazakhstan-Indonesia trade hit $244.7mn
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has met today with Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto to discuss expanding trade and economic cooperation, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing the press service of the Government.
Indonesia is one of Kazakhstan's important partners in Southeast Asia.
In 2025, bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Indonesia amounted to $244.7 million. From January to March 2026, trade turnover totaled $31.5 million, with Kazakhstan exporting primarily manufacturing, metallurgy, and chemical products, and Indonesia supplying electronics and textiles.
The sides noted that Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto had previously held a number of meetings at international venues, which provided additional impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation.

"Kazakhstan attaches special importance to expanding trade and economic ties with Indonesia. We believe there is a significant potential for augmenting these indicators and we are interested in broadening trade, economic, and investment cooperation," Olzhas Bektenov emphasized.
Airlangga Hartarto, in turn, expressed Indonesia's readiness to deepen the partnership with Kazakhstan, expand business contacts, and develop cooperation in promising areas.
During the meeting, the existing potential for expanding cooperation in energy, industry, agriculture and food processing, textiles, Islamic banking, the digital economy, education, and tourism was noted.
The sides also discussed the development of transport and logistics routes, in particular, the opportunities for using Kazakhstan’s transit potential and the infrastructure of international transport corridors. It was emphasized that Kazakhstan offers a favorable investment climate and can serve as a platform for entering regional markets, including Central Asia, the EAEU countries, the Caucasus, and Europe.
The sides confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening bilateral economic ties between Kazakhstan and Indonesia.
