Kazakhstan inaugurates second Confucius institute

BEIJING. March 2. KAZINFORM The Confucius Institute at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Kazakhstan recently held its plaque unveiling ceremony.

This Confucius Institute is developed on the foundation of the Chinese Language Center established between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and China's Lanzhou University in 2002. To date, the Chinese Language Center has already cultivated over 1,500 Chinese language talents.
Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov, from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and an academician with the National Academy of Sciences for the Republic of Kazakhstan, said during the inauguration ceremony that the establishment of the university's Confucius Institute is an important milestone for educational and cultural exchanges between Kazakhstan and China. He said that there are more and more young students in Kazakhstan learning the Chinese language, which signifies that the Kazakh youth have a strong interest in China's history and culture. The university's Confucius Institute will make all-out efforts to accomplish its mission and contribute to educational and cultural exchanges between Kazakhstan and China.
The first Confucius Institute in Kazakhstan was officially launched in Eurasia University in December 2007, Kazinform cites People's Daily Online.
