ASTANA. October 28. KAZINFORM "Kazakhstan has great potential for the development of its solar energy," Professor Nasir El Bassam, Director of International Research Centre for Renewable Energy Germany (IFEED) said in an interview to the official site of the Kazakh PM.

"I have heard today that Kazakhstan is planning or is building its photovoltaic solar system with capacity of 50 thousand megawatt per year that is equivalent to the energy generated by 50 nuclear plants. The capacity of the nuclear plant is about 1,000-1,500 megawatt," the Professor said on the sidelines of the 6th KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum.
"You have here very good weather conditions for the solar energy development" Nasir El Bassam noted.
"Kazakhstan has advantages. First of all, you pursue good and wise policy. This is important. You also possess oil, gas and uranium sources. You can use these resources to build up the renewable energy sources and preserve those resources for the next generations," he said.
