Kazakhstan, France strengthen coop in renewable energy

ALMATY. April 25. KAZINFORM Recently a delegation of Kazatomprom National Company JSC headed by its Chairman of Board Vladimir Shkolnik has visited France to get familiarized with the latest achievements in renewable energy sources and exchange experience with the French colleagues.

Within the trip the Head of the Kazakh Company met with French Minister of Environment, Transport and Housing Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet to discuss a wide range of issues concerning development of alternative energy in Kazakhstan and environmental protection.

A memorandum of intention on implementation of joint programs in the field of new materials for various sources of renewable energy was signed in the city of Saclay between Kazatompom JSC and France's Atomic Energy Commission. From the Kazakh side the document was signed by V. Shkolnik and from the French side it was signed by Chairman of the Commission Dr. Bernard Bigot. The document reflects both countries' interest in cooperation and has become the first step towards implementation of large projects. First of all, the point at issue is transfer of technologies of the Atomic Energy Commission which will allow Kazakhstan using its potential in creation of new energy sources as much as possible.

The parties confirmed their intention to establish a joint scientific-research laboratory for development of technologies connected with renewable and alternative energy (solar, hydrogen etc) as well as energy storage problems.
