Kazakhstan for the first time in its history built two new trunk railroads
As the President noted, over the years of independence Kazakhstan has kept on building up railway lines and highways for the huge country cannot move forward without transport communications. "The new railroads will determine the life of several regions and the whole country for the years ahead," the President stressed. It took KZT 500 bln to lay the main trunks. Construction of the large-scale transport project started in June 2012. 1,200 km long railroads, housing for workers and maintenance staff, necessary infrastructure were built at large.
The new railway lines will let significantly cut load distance from west to east and north to south of the country and expand transit capacities of Kazakhstan. The new railroads will also substantially increase transport potential of trans-Kazakhstan transport corridors running from China to Russia and further to Europe.
