Kazakhstan firmly committed to joint active work within BRICS - Kazakh President
Kazakhstan’s efforts within BRICS will make it possible to significantly increase the connectivity between North and South, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in his speech at the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

I’m convinced that our efforts within BRICS will make it possible to significantly increase the connectivity between North and South, eliminate imbalances in the development of states, significantly strengthen global security and improve the circumstances for global progress. Kazakhstan is firmly committed to joint active work within BRICS to foster comprehensive cooperation for sustainable and secure development of countries. I’m sure that the BRICS Summit in Kazan will go down in history as an important milestone on the way to a better and more just world, stated Tokayev.
To note, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, South African President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as well as other leaders arrived at the Summit.
On October 23, the meeting of the BRICS Summit in an expanded format was held at Kazan Expo in Tatarstan. On the same day, the restricted-format meeting of the BRICS Summit took place, during which Russian President Putin proposed to form a list of BRICS partner countries and state it in the final declaration. The Russian leader also said that over 30 countries express interest in joining BRICS.
Earlier it was reported that at the invitation of the President of Russia, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Kazan for a working visit to participate in the 16th Summit of the BRICS Heads of State.
