Kazakhstan eyes 10mln tons throughout via TITR
Last year, the total cargo throughput via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor stood at 4.5 million tons, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

We spare no effort to promote the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, as last year’s total cargo throughput rose to 4.5 million tons (+62%). It’s planned to bring the figure to up to 10 million tons in the future, said Murat Nurtleu, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister – Foreign Minister, stressing the role of Kazakh-Azerbaijani enterprise Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd in this process.
Nurtleu said that fiber optic communication is a key step for Kazakhstan to create a modern digital corridor. The minister expressed the country’s readiness for active cooperation to bring this project to fruition.
The initiative to lay a deep-sea submarine electrical cable on the Caspian seabed holds great potential and our country stands ready to step up this work, he noted.
To note, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov arrived in Astana today for an official visit. As part of the visit, he has held talks behind the closed doors and in extended formats with the Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu.
As earlier reported, Kazakhstan is to boost oil exports via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.
