Kazakhstan establishes Committee for Regulation, Protection and Utilization of Water Resources
In order to enhance the efforts to combat the illicit trade in water resources, a new regulatory body, the Committee for Regulation, Protection and Utilization of Water Resources, has been established under Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the ministry.

The newly-established committee will address the illicit utilization of water and its data misrepresentation, in addition to investigating illicit economic activities on the country's water bodies.
“The ministry is taking the fight against the illicit use of water under special control. The work of the new committee is aimed at preventing offences and protecting the country's water resources. In conjunction with the proposed changes to the legislation, this should significantly strengthen the fight against the "black market" of water,” the Kazakh Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, stated.
