Kazakhstan established close cooperation with GE Transportation - President Nazarbayev

ASTANA. May 21. KAZINFORM Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev received President and Chief Executive Officer of General Electric Transportation Lorenzo Simonelli on Monday in Astana, the Presidential press service said.

Nazarbayev said that Kazakhstan and GE Transportation have established close cooperation. He noted that together with JSC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy the project on locomotive assembly in Astana was successfully implemented.

Simonelli emphasized the importance of cooperation with Kazakhstan. "We have a number of programs that we implement. In addition to the locomotive plant we have projects in the oil and gas industry, health care, water treatment. It is important that the President of Kazakhstan has created a favorable climate for the partnership that promotes the development of business relations. Our company is committed to establishing long-term closer ties with Kazakhstan," he said.

Representation of General Electric in Almaty was opened in 1994. Currently, GE headquarters in Kazakhstan and Central Asia is in Astana and has offices in Almaty and Aksai. To date, 200 employees of GE in Kazakhstan productively work with national and private companies. GE has been successfully cooperating with Kazakhstan in such areas as oil and gas infrastructure, power generation, rail and air transport, water treatment and health.
