Kazakhstan - essential member of Alliance of Civilizations: UN Sec Gen

"Kazakhstan has ratified a range of agreements important for provision of human and minority rights", he noted.

Besides, the UN Secretary General stressed that he appreciates the decision of the Kazakh President on establishment of such Assembly.

He also noted that today too many countries of the world differ by ethnic principal and face development slowdown due to suspicions and disagreements between nations.

"Differences of faith and nationality still remain barriers of globalization in our world. In this regard the United Nations established the Alliance of Civilizations in order to destroy these barriers and build mutual understanding, respect and confidence instead", Ban Ki-moon said.

Besides, the UN Secretary General said that Kazakhstan preserves languages, traditions and cultures of minorities and lays foundation for long-term stability.

"It is great honor for the United Nations to assist Kazakhstan", Ban Ki-moon said.
