Kazakhstan earns 31 Paris Olympic Games berths
There are several months left before the beginning of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris. More than 10,000 athletes from 205 countries of the world are expected to compete for 329 sets of medals in 32 sports, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the Ministry of Tourism and Sport.
Team Kazakhstan plans to participate in 20 sport competitions.
The Kazakh delegation has already earned 31 Olympic berths in 11 sport competitions, namely: men’s boxing – 6, rifle shooting – 5, archery – 4, fencing – 4, road cycling - 3, modern pentathlon – 2, taekwondo – 2, Greco-Roman wrestling – 1, freestyle wrestling – 1, artistic gymnastics – 1, trampoline gymnastics – 1, women’s boxing - 1.
Athletes from Almaty, Shymkent, and Zhetysu region have won five quotas each. Then come East Kazakhstan region (4), Astana (3), Zhambyl region (2), North Kazakhstan region (2), Akmola region (1), Kyzylorda region (1), Abai region (1), Karaganda region (1), and Turkistan region (1).
It should be noted there are more than 50 tournaments, including world championships, Asian championships and rating tournaments to be held ahead of the Olympic Games.
The Paris 2024 Games will be held from July 26 to August 11.
