Kazakhstan did huge work for approaching international standards in judiciary system: UNDP Permanent Representative Shu Haolyan

ASTANA. May 19. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Chairman of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan Musabek Alimbekov has met with Resident-Coordinator of the UN, Permanent Representative of the UNDP to Kazakhstan Shu Haolyan. The parties focused on the course of realization of the joint project of the UNDP and the Kazakh Supreme Court Transparency and access to information and justice in Kazakhstan, the press service of the Supreme Court informs.
M. Alimbekov briefed about the measures adopted by the Supreme Court for providing access of the citizens to justice and court information.
Shu Haolyan noted that ensuring access to justice and information was of great importance for the development of democratic processes in Kazakhstan especially in the light of the oncoming chairmanship in the OSCE in 2010. M. Nowak, international expert on tortures, who had recently visited Kazakhstan took positive view on the situation in our country in this direction, he highlighted.
?Many representatives of international community were surprised with this estimate, but this is international expert?s view. This shows that Kazakhstan has done huge work for approaching the international standards. There is no doubt that Kazakhstan has healthy ambitions and opportunities to realize the aims it has set?, Shu Haolyan pointed out.
