Kazakhstan democratic reforms are worthy of a 'partner for democracy' status - PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon
Utembayev congratulated Mignon on his appointment as PACE President and noted successful and productive cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe.
The Kazakh diplomat emphasized the progress made by Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe in their joint work on the action plan "On the neighborhood cooperation priorities of the Council of Europe in relation to Kazakhstan for 2012-2014."
In turn, Mignon stressed that the Council of Europe and Kazakhstan have been cooperating for many years and PACE appreciates the privilege to maintain relations with the Parliament of Kazakhstan through a special cooperation agreement signed in 2004.
In addition, the PACE President noted that the ongoing democratic reforms in Kazakhstan are worthy of a "partner for democracy" status, which offers a big potential for developing and deepening of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe.
Utembayev noted that "Kazakhstan studies the opportunity of joining the "partner for democracy" status."
