Kazakhstan contributed greatly to development of Islamic civilization

ASTANA. "Kazakhstan made a great contribution to the development of Islamic civilization," professor at the Cairo University Mahmoud Fouad said at the international conference themed "The role of Islam in Central Asia" held in Astana.

"Kazakhstan contributed to the development of Islamic civilization. The Islamic thought was formed in the territory of modern Kazakhstan. The famous scientists and theologians worked there. Lots of their works acknowledged in the Islamic world are kept in the country. This heritage is an integral part of the Islam history, values of our religion. Islam means peace, understanding and charity. Your society understands and cultivates these values," he noted. According to him, participation of many scientists well-known in the Islamic world bespeaks that Kazakhstan is recognized as a country able to hold a dialogue between the representatives of various religious beliefs. The conference, organized by the Agency for Religious Affairs of Kazakhstan, is aimed to debate issues concerning the role of the Islamic religion in Central Asia as one of the historic centres of the development of Islam. It gathered famous theologians, foreign experts specializing in religion and freedom of conscience from Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Egypt, representatives of Kazakhstan state authorities, NGOs, and experts.
