Kazakhstan confident in its abilities and ready to support other countries of region - President Nazarbayev

President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said it at the IX Eurasian Media Forum today.

"Over these years Kazakhstan has been developing and has been implementing its strategic goals. In 1997 Kazakhstan Strategy 2030 was adopted. We defined a long-term agenda, major goals and priorities of the country's development. In the first decade of the new century we doubled the GDP volume and product release in industry. Production in agriculture was increased by 1,5 times. The incomes of the population rose by 14 times. We carried out effective reforms in the sphere of management and political system which helped strengthen our young state", the Head of the State noted. He emphasized, that the country was able to build its new capital - Astana - only in 10 years. The city developed in the center of vast steppe and Kazakhstanis are proud of it and our guests admire it.

Kazakhstan overcame serious tests caused by the world financial crisis. "We have successfully realized the anti-recessionary program. None of large enterprises were closed; we have prevented jobs reduction. We have lowered unemployment having created more than 400,000 jobs last year. The banking sector, small and medium business, agriculture, the construction sphere received great assistance from the state", N.Nazarbayev noted.

According to him, Kazakhstan overcame all difficulties of the world crisis using means of the National Fund and relying on its own strength. "Our economy finished the year 2009 with positive growth. And now this tendency strengthens. Following the results of the first quarter the country's GDP increased by 6.6 percent, export - by 60 percent, industry and trade - by 11.5 percent. Owing to timely measures restructuring of the national banks debts was completed, and the banking sphere was stabilized", he said.
