Kazakhstan, China eye inter-parliamentary cooperation in Astana

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakh Senate Speaker Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev has met today with a delegation from China headed by vice-chairperson of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Zhang Baowen, the chamber's press service reports.

At the meeting in Astana, Mr. Tokayev praised dynamic development of cooperation in commercial, economic, energy, humanitarian and security spheres between Kazakhstan and China. According to him, recent meeting of the Kazakh and Chinese leaders at the SCO Summit in Dushanbe gave a fresh impetus to successful development of bilateral ties. The sides believe that inter-parliamentary interaction is an essential component of the Sino-Kazakh strategic cooperation. "We will exert every effort to step up inter-parliamentary cooperation," Mr. Tokayev assured his Chinese colleagues. The Chinese side, in turn, expressed readiness to help Kazakhstan in holding of the International specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 and sharing its experience in hosting analogous event in Shanghai in 2010. The Kazakh Senate Speaker congratulated members of the delegation on the 65th anniversary of the foundation of the People's Republic of China and invited NPC chairman Zhang Dejiang to Kazakhstan in order to continue dialogue on issues of strategic cooperation between the two nations.
