December 20, 2002 the 57th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a resolution on the proclamation of June 23 as UN Public Service Day and encouraged UN member states to define the date in each country. Kazakh President Decree approved 23d of June as the Day of civil servant. In Kazakhstan there are more than 90,000 people working in the public service including more than 49,000 women. The average age of political servants is 48 years, administrative - 39, and "A" corpus civil servants - 45 years. Celebrating the Day of civil servants in Kazakhstan should strengthen the credibility of public service and popularize the basic principle of professional state apparatus - "serving the people and the state above all else".
