Kazakhstan calls to announce World Day of Nuclear Weapons Renunciation
At the conference the Vice Minister made a report, in which Kazakhstan's adherence to the Agency's goals and priorities in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and strengthening the non-proliferation regime was confirmed. Kazakhstan's contribution to strengthening the modern system of the international security was noted. According to the Vice Minister, striving for development of the country's nuclear energy sector under the auspices of the IAEA is the important priority in the Kazakh Government's activity.
Making efforts for creation of the global movement for nuclear disarmament, the Kazakh representative called the conference participants to support the initiative of Kazakh President N.Nazarbayev to announce August 29 the World Day of Nuclear Weapons Renunciation.
Within the framework of the visit A.Magauov and IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of Department of Technical Cooperation Ana Maria Cetto signed a framework program on technical cooperation between Kazakhstan and the IAEA for 2010-2015. Also he met with heads of the IAEA and head of delegations from India, Mongolia, USA, Ukraine, and Japan.
