Kazakhstan bans Australian meat imports
Beginning from today there have been already imposed a ban on sales of meat products. Primarily, it aims at beef imported from Australia as the product does not pass the sanitary epidemiologic expertise. Aliya Alimbetova said the ban was imposed after the discovery of the growth stimulant trenbolone in the meat imported from Australia.
In addition, from June 1 the Agency for Consumer Protection prohibits the import and sale of alcoholic beverages. Previously, the agency reported that alcoholic beverages produced in Italy, France, Scotland, the Russian Federation, and Belarus are sold with violations of the requirements of national legislation and the rules established by the technical regulations of the Customs Union.
Australia is the world's third-largest exporter of beef after the United States and Brazil.
